Which hairbrush should you use?
A paddle brush and a tangle teaser brush are great for detangling the hair with ease and comfort. The brush allows you to have more control without breaking your natural pattern of hair. Paddle brushes are made with different types of bristles. For thick hair, you need more of a sturdier bristle such as synthetic which can run smoothly through textured hair but is still great for all hair types.
A round brush is great for blowouts. with round brushes, they control frizz and gives you the most volume. There are two things to consider when choosing the size of your round brush, for example, the length of your hair and the size of the curl/wave you want to create. Round brushes are ideal for creating that volume and body in your hair. This is the brush you want to use when you are blow-drying your hair. Small size brushes create tighter curls, while brushes with larger barrels are known to straighten hair and create subtle waves.
Do hair extensions shed and tangle?
As Just Long Hair is 100% human hair it is normal for the hair to shed. As you brush the hair do not panic if you see some fallout as it's completely normal. This, however, does not mean you should not brush your hair. Extensions are more likely to shed when they are dry and brittle.
Matting and tangling are normal not just with your hair, but with all types of hair extensions. This can happen due to lack of brushing, the weather, or dryness. If you aren’t brushing your hair consistently, you’re giving the hair the opportunity to matt and tangle.
How do you prevent tangling/matting and shedding of hair?
The first and most important thing is to brush your extensions before washing them and once they are 80% dry. This helps to minimise any breakage and shedding. Always start from the ends working your way up to the roots.
The second most important thing is to always keep your extensions moisturised and hydrated. Always apply a lightweight serum or oil to the mid-lengths and ends and follow by brushing the extensions to evenly distribute the product throughout. You do not need to apply hair oil on a daily basis, as this can cause build-up on your extensions. Instead, you apply it once a week or when you notice significant tangling and dryness.
Finally, Improper hair care can also take a toll on your extensions. When washing, make sure to handle the extensions gently and not rub them vigorously. After you are finished, carefully squeeze any excess water from the extensions. Never rub your extensions dry with a towel always pat dry.
